Illegal Alien
Blurb:
Toledo police detective Audrey Vorkink has a reputation for getting things done. She might look like a middle-aged soccer mom (complete with bobbed hair), but she works hard and unwinds even harder. One night, as she’s meeting with her edgier-than-it-sounds knitting group, a hit-and-run accident turns deadly right outside the building. But something’s fishy about the missing driver, something positively…inhuman. Audrey can run down any criminal, but what if this one’s from another planet? Can she bring this bad guy to justice? Is she losing her mind? Will she ever manage to get a decent haircut? Find out in this snarky police thriller meets extraterrestrials (maybe) by Carrie Harris, author of BAD TASTE IN BOYS and DEMON DERBY
Review: 4 stars
Illegal Alien is the first book in the Illegal Alien series by Carrie Harris. It is the first book that I have read by this author and I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series. I really liked Audrey. She was a great female heroine and very tough. I liked that she looked like a soccer mom but was a bad ass. She didn't let others bulldoze over her. She always got her man. She liked her job and working with her partner. Then things go horribly wrong and life as she knows it is about to change. She knows what she saw but it couldn't be. She is taking flack at the office too and it is spilling over into her home life. Her co-workers are teasing her mercilessly. Some are even lashing out at her and blaming her for things that were not her fault. She is going to get to the bottom of things even if it is the last thing she does. Will she be able to redeem herself? Will she ever find out what she saw? Will she get her man? Or will she end up paying the price for her choices? I would recommend Illegal Alien to anyone who enjoys a good sci-fi read with a strong female lead.
